On Tuesday September 1st, the Christchurch Methodist Mission (CMM) presented a petition signed by nearly 3,000 people to Minister for Seniors Casey Costello on the steps of Parliament, calling for more targeted investment into affordable housing for older people.
Representing CMM at the petition handover was Executive Director Jill Hawkey, Strategic Advisor Jane Higgins, Pou Manukura Jared Riwai-Couch, Hākui Moana-o-Hinerangi, and Housing Operations Manager Annie Smith.
“The housing crisis continues to deepen for older people,” says CMM Executive Director Jill Hawkey. “In 25 years, we’re going to have 400,000 older people who are going to need affordable rentals, and that's the real concern.”
We’d like to express our gratitude to everyone who signed and shared the petition.
