On Tuesday March 24th we launched our Doors to Dignity campaign nationally with an event in Parliament, co-hosted by MPs Hon Chris Bishop (Minister for Housing), Hon Kieran McAnulty MP (Labour Party Spokesperson for Housing), Tamatha Paul (Green Party Spokesperson for Housing) and Andy Foster MP (NZ First Spokesperson for Housing).
We were delighted to have cross-party support for this event, highlighting the urgent need for a collaborative approach on the issue of older persons housing.
The launch included a display of documentary photographer David Cook’s Listen Up! Seniors Take a Stand on Housing — Whakarongo Mai! E tū tohe ana ngā kaumātua mō ngā take whare exhibition and graphic novel, a moving showcase of lived experiences from older renters navigating housing insecurity.
