Ensuring all older people are housed well

We envision a country where every older person lives with dignity, their right to safe and secure housing is protected, and communities come together to ensure no one is left behind.

Creating a safer future for older New Zealanders

While thousands of older people across Aotearoa are facing growing challenges in accessing safe, affordable housing, there is hope — and there is momentum for change.

Doors to Dignity, led by the Christchurch Methodist Mission, is a nationwide initiative focused on addressing this crisis head-on. Through advocacy, collaboration, and community engagement, we’re working to ensure all older New Zealanders can live with security, dignity, and peace of mind in their later years.

What We Do

There’s a role for everyone in creating change

How You Can Help

Change Starts with Awareness and Action

Whether you're part of a community organisation, a policy maker, housing provider, researcher, advocate, or simply a concerned citizen - your voice matters.

Improving housing outcomes for older people requires a united effort across sectors and communities. From raising awareness and sharing stories, to influencing policy and supporting local initiatives, every action counts.

Together, we can build a future where all older New Zealanders live in homes that are safe, secure, and suited to their needs - homes that honour their lifetime of contribution.
